Another Mulroney fan

Good to see that there is someone else who actually liked Mulroney and his
accomplishments.

Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.

Shaky foundation

Apparently, the house that Kyoto built is based on
a pile of manure. Let’s hope it sinks quietly into the abyss before it gets build too high.

Undo the deal

More proof the deal with the devil should have been revoked.

The apology calls into question whether or not Homolka lived up to her end of the plea deal that stipulated she could be prosecuted if caught lying, “obstructing justice, public mischief, fabricating evidence, perjury, inconsistent statements and/or false affidavits.”

Homolka did not give one hint of the Jane Doe drug rapes until October 1993, when she wrote to her lawyer that she had a “dream” of doing things with Jane Doe and asked him to make sure nothing undid her deal.

I still don’t know why they don’t think they can undo it.

Protest the Deal with the Devil!

Pussification, part 29

Remember when police chiefs used to be tough?  Not any more.

Kingston Police crunched the numbers and found that officers there are three times as likely to stop blacks as whites. Chief William Closs became tearful and apologetic as he presented the findings, the first of their kind in Canada.

Sometimes the truth hurts.  Deal with it.

What a wailer

Just finished listening to one of the best songs of all time, The Great Gig in the Sky, by one of the greatest bands of all times, Pink Floyd.

I got curious as to who the female vocalist was - because the performance sends chills down my spine every time.

Once more, the www comes to the rescue...its powers of research are phenomenal.

Amazingly, it’s only been about a month, but the vocalist, Clare Torry, was finally fairly compensated.

This week, the High Court judged on the side of Ms Torry, and have awarded her a half-share on copyright ownership of the song. The amount of the out-of-court settlement has not been disclosed, prompting much speculation as to the amount.

A real hero

I meant to mention the new Terry Fox coin back when it came out.  Of course, they played the very sad footage of Terry ending his run when they reported on the new coin..

Canadians everywhere are stunned and heartbroken: Terry Fox’s cancer has returned and his Marathon of Hope must end near Thunder Bay, Ont. Terry has run 5,373 kilometres after 143 days on the road.
On the verge of tears, Terry Fox lies on a stretcher and tells reporters he has cancer in his lungs and must go home for more treatment.

It also got me thinking that Canada doesn’t have many heros anymore, and Terry’s heroics, as simple as they were, seem to have stood the test of time.

Take it with a grain

Yet another study telling us common sense wins again: most foods, including salt, make no difference to your health when taken in moderation.

It’s a fact that salt saves many a meal.

You’ll need him later

Did the right thing

The mother in this story sounds almost as guilty as the boyfriend.  It seems appropriate that she lost custody of her kids.

What is the downside?

Jay asks what exactly is the downside to dumping Quebec?  Really, there isn’t one, as long as they agree to giving up most of the province.

The real solution is with Conservatives - greater decentralization will appease all the other provinces too.

A cad’s payback

Chuck Cadman sold out and voted Liberal - and Levant is livid.

Something tells me it was a little payback to the Conservatives for not nominating him.

Poverty is a choice

Fred says that he’s tired of supporting the poor industry and their collective bad choices.

One reads much about the poor in America, their piteous lives, their blighted hopes, and the unrelieved downtreading of them by various social ogres such as oppressive corporations who sell them greasy hamburgers.

TurncoatBarbie.com - Selling-out near you!

A well done website, complete with Boo-linda’s last speech.

After difficult reflection, ( my head really hurts now ) I reached a conclusion. I cannot exaggerate how hard this was for me ( almost as hard as first year University ). The political crisis affecting Canada is too risky and dangerous for blind partisanship. I watch and listen and feel that the interests of individuals or parties are often placed above the national interests ( Don’t worry I didn’t write that, in fact I don’t even know what that means ). The country must come first.

Master’s take on Belindagate

Mark offers a rare instacomment on the affairs of Canada.

And for the country to come first the Liberal Party must come first, now and always.

Jack not local

I had no idea JackFM was North America wide.

This is the so-called Jack format that’s riding radio waves all across the U.S. In the last three weeks alone, the format, or a close variant, has debuted on stations in five major metropolitan areas—Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Indianapolis, adding to the half-dozen or so that had switched since Denver inaugurated the format in the U.S. a little over a year ago.

I actually like the format --- figures it was invented in the US.

A Traitor is Born

An interesting article on the making of a modern day Judas.

Not surprising that David Petersen was right in the middle of it...remember the 1 billion dollar skydome? (Recently sold for $28 million)

Another Turncoat

Another blow to democracy: an angry woman spurned: Belinda turns tail and jumps to corruption.

Martin sat beside a smiling Belinda Stronach at a surprise news conference and introduced the rookie parliamentarian as his new human resources minister.

First a fag, now an appoarent power whore...boy, Liberals will take anyone.

It’s no great loss for the Conservatives - in fact, it’s a benefit.

Let’s see: she’s pro-gay, can’t commit to a husband, has public affairs (bad for children), and stands for nothing, except, apparently, grabbing power.

Can you imagine being a 10 year Liberal MPP, hoping for a cabinet post, and this turncoat pops in, all cozy with PM Dithers, and gets a plum post?

Loyalty is one of the most important parts of any relationship - she has none.

Why a leader would welcome a disloyal person into his arms is equally foolish.

Newmarket voters will do well to teach her a lesson next election.

Burning sense

It’s clear that old biases are going to keep sensible incineration off the table and truckloads of garbage rolling down the 401.

Will we ever have leaders who will lead instead of follow (the polls)?

Clean them off

This is a sad story to be sure.  To us conservatives, it’s yet another reason to get the indigent off the streets and institutionalized: tough medicine to save their lives.
